2. Information we collect
Information you provide
When you subscribe to our newsletter, leave a comment or recipe rating, or use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and any information you choose to include in your message.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, we and our partners automatically collect the following:
- Full, unmasked Internet Protocol (IP) address;
- Device identifiers, including advertising identifiers and cookie IDs;
- Precise location data derived from your IP address, typically at neighbourhood or postal-code level;
- Browser type and version;
- Device type, screen size, and operating system;
- Pages visited, time spent, and scroll or click behaviour;
- Referring URLs and exit pages;
- Date and time of access.
Sensitive personal information
We do not seek to collect sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, race or ethnicity, political or religious beliefs, health information, sexual orientation, or criminal history. Under certain US state privacy laws, precise geolocation is treated as sensitive personal information — see section 9 for how to limit its use.
3. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies (including pixels and local storage) to remember your preferences, understand site usage, and serve advertising. A cookie is a small file stored on your device. The categories used on this site are:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function and stay secure;
- Preference — remember choices such as your consent settings;
- Analytics — help us understand how visitors use the site;
- Advertising — deliver, frequency-cap, and measure advertisements, and build interest-based advertising profiles.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function properly as a result. You can also manage advertising and analytics cookies at any time through the “Privacy Settings” or “Cookie Settings” control on this site.
4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors interact with the site. It collects information such as IP address, device information, pages viewed, and usage patterns. Google may process this data on servers outside your country of residence.
You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services here: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on.
5. Third-party advertising
This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense and/or Google Ad Manager, operated by Google LLC, together with authorised advertising technology partners. These services use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, and device identifiers to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, enabling both personalised and non-personalised advertising.
Advertising technology partners
We share data with ad technology providers, demand side platforms (DSPs), supply side platforms, and their bidding partners through the real-time advertising auction process. These vendors are contractually prohibited from using this data for any purpose other than those disclosed in this Policy. The complete, current vendor list is available through our Consent Management Platform, accessible via the “Privacy Settings” or “Cookie Settings” control on this site.
Processing of granular technical data (IP addresses)
To facilitate a secure and high-performance advertising environment, we and our authorised advertising technology partners (including Google Ad Manager and its bidding partners) collect and process the full, unmasked IP address of your device, for the following purposes:
- Security and fraud prevention: to identify and mitigate sophisticated invalid traffic (IVT), such as botnets, click farms, and non-human engagement;
- Precise geolocation: to determine your precise location, typically at neighbourhood or postal-code level, in order to serve relevant local content and advertisements;
- Ad delivery and attribution: to ensure you do not see the same advertisement excessively (frequency capping) and to measure whether an advertisement led to a specific action.
Legal basis (GDPR / EEA / UK)
- For security and fraud prevention, we process this data on the basis of legitimate interest (IAB TCF Special Purpose 2);
- For precise geolocation and ad personalisation, we process this data only where you have given explicit consent via our Consent Management Platform (IAB TCF Feature 3).
Data sharing and recipients
Your full IP address is shared in real time with authorised third-party vendors via the ad-bidding process. These vendors are prohibited from using this data for any purpose other than those disclosed here. You can view the full list of these partners through the “Privacy Settings” or “Cookie Settings” control on this site.
Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) to collect and manage consent in accordance with applicable law, including the GDPR. Where required by law, advertisements are served only after you provide consent. You may change or withdraw your consent at any time through the consent control on this site.
